Short draft: Project „Energy 2020“

Verschiedene Gegenstände zum Thema Energie

The „Energy2020 – The energy consumers' reality turns digital” project demonstrates opportunities for households regarding energy efficiency and generation. Consumers are motivated and guided to take an active role in the increasingly digitized energy transition and, hence, benefit from it. Experts on site and in the headquarter provide orientation in an increasingly digitized, innovative and prosumer-centric energy world with merging electricity, heating and mobility sectors. Thus, Energy2020 contributes to achieve the energy and climate protection targets on regional, federal and international level, especially in the buildings sector.

Beyond essential building refurbishment consulting, that combines energy savings with comfort gains, the project focuses on connected, digitized applications and opportunities through selfgenerated electricity - turning consumers into prosumers.  New business cases emerge, such as peer-to-peer trading in between neighbors, providing ancillary services through virtually pooled residential battery storage or PV lease.

Region-wide personal energy consulting is the core service of the Energy2020 project - written, via e-mail, by telephone or on site at the consumers' homes – as questions and specific details are still best addressed in a direct and personal exchange.

Important basic information and tips are provided via online- and social media channels as well as audio-visual media activities. Priority subjects are regularly promoted through large-scale campaigns combined with on site- activities and other strong PR measures.

Energy2020 is steadily and critically monitoring the evolving energy markets, especially new business cases, in order to guarantee safety and quality for consumers.

The Energy2020 project is funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), the Ministry for the Environment, Agriculture, Nature Conservation and Consumer Protection of North Rhine-Westphalia as well as numerous districts and cities in the region, whose co-financing currently enables 28 decentralized energy consulting centers.

About Verbraucherzentrale Nordrhein-Westfalen: The Consumer Association of North Rhine-Westphalia (Verbraucherzentrale Nordrhein-Westfalen) is the leading regional consumer organisation in Germany. It works in a close network of around 60 advisory centres throughout the German Federal State of North Rhine-Westphalia.
